During his short period with Pye Records, Georgie Fame recorded 3 albums for this label. Now available on cd, it's a must for Georgie's fans.
Notably regarding his live albums for Go Jazz (Walking Wounded & Name droppin') this compilation contains some 'original versions' like 'Eros Hotel' en 'Zulu'. And if you always thought an original couldn't be beaten, listen to 'Lovely Day'. This is the ultimate performance and sounds much more groovy than the Withers original. In fact, the first track is worth buying the album for.
Liner notes with remarks from mr. Fame himself !

This lovely complilation of Georgie Fame's Pye years is well worth getting. The musicianship and recording is all excellent and as the previous reviewer stated the title track is worth the price on its own.

The reason I've given it 4 stars rather than 5 is that this isn't Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames. I think these tracks were recorded in the 70's and quite a few of the them bury his great voice with uneccessary multi-tracking and layers of strings and horns. That said sometimes this works really well, such as on the fun "I'm in love with you baby". Certainly the Jazz influence on Georgie is completely unrepresented on these recordings.

However overall this is a fine, largely laid-back collection, which captures Georgie Fame at a mid-point in his career and it represents that really well.
