5.0 out of 5 stars Unclassifiable, but excellent!, 9 Jun 2001
By Tim Eskin (Cardiff, Wales) - See all my reviews
'Play'- I can't pin this down - dance, gospel, ambient, experimental; they're all here. The genius Moby shows is in combining what would normally be isolated genres into a true audio work of art.

Even if you don't read the enclosed essays, the recording stands as a testimony to the depth and variety of human experience. The music's great, but listen to the lyrics and it becomes something even more special.

The B-Sides CD shows a slightly different side of Moby's work - there are more ambient tracks here. Rather than being disappointing compared to 'Play', the second CD complements it perfectly, and with over 1 hour of listening on each CD, it's a great bargain as well - get it while you can!
