Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The Plug 'N' Go Car Kit is an instant car hands-free system that brings an end to missed calls and fumbling for your mobile while driving. And it really is as simple as it sounds--plug it into your cigarette lighter socket, slot in your phone and you're ready to make and receive calls; no installation, no wiring, no fuss.

Remarkably well-designed, the unit comprises a steady phone holder and simple plug and takes up a small amount of room. Cars with the lighter socket in a hard-to-reach place can utilise an additional pivoting extension bar which is supplied to ensure you'll get your phone right where you need it and the phone holder can be tilted to almost any angle required. No battery left? No problem. The Plug 'N' Go also charges your mobile as you drive.

With a built-in microphone and speaker the sound quality is impressive; adjustable volume means you can speak without shouting and the person calling you is easily heard over road and engine noise.

One word of warning--it may be best to listen to the instructional cassette prior to starting your journey, as the monotone voice of the narrator left this reviewer yearning for a pillow. --Mel Pring

1.0 out of 5 stars Flawed design, 22 Jun 2002
By Roger Underhill (HUNTINGDON, Cambs United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
When this unit works correctly it is almost ideal. Unfortunately the lugs which hold the phone in place are poorly designed and allow the handset to jump free consequently neither charging or being audible when a call comes in. Exceedingly frustrating. I wrote to Pama pointing out this deficiency but did not recieve the courtesy of even an acknowledgement of my communication. A money waster.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, flawed execution, 18 Mar 2002
By A Customer
When the Plug 'n' Go works, it is great -- the microphone appears to be sensitive enough, and the speaker loud enough, for most situations. However, it just does not work consistently enough to be a satisfactory hands-free solution. I found that when new the unit gripped the phone about 80% of the time, but after a few months of use it grips first time only 10-20% of the time, and the phone is too easily knocked knocked free by even fairly small road impefections.

I fear that this may even be distracting enough to be unsafe.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good buy!!, 21 Dec 2001
By A Customer
I bought this unit because the concept was great and it seemed like it would be infinitely better than previous devices which were clipped to the air vents with fiddly screws. Unfortunately, I find the unit is very poor in practise: I constantly have to press it back in its holder to make contact with the charging circuits and it is touch and go as to whether I will hear an incoming caller, or they will hear me. Most times, I have to remove the phone from the holder which kind of defeats the "hands-free" theory.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for safety
Excellant for safety and you can keep your hand off the phone and put both hands on the steering wheel.
