4.0 out of 5 stars funky disco, 21 Mar 2009
This review is from: Cerrone VII (Audio CD)
cerrone 7 is probably cerrones blackest album to date. recorded at the tail end of the disco era in 1980 it sees the legendary jocelyn brown take vocal duties for the entire album ! ( a first for cerrone) There are elements of disco in a couple of the tracks but the rest are pretty funky and cool, save for the ballad "letter to my mother"... "You are the one" is the best track along with "Hooked on you" - both cool slices of disco. but the whole album is very good indeed and there are no bad tracks at all. Cerrone has crafted possibly his best all round album in this. If you didnt like his more euro-disco sound on previous albums then you may like this more as the vibe is definately more new york rnb sound. After this album cerrone wasnt this funky again till the late nineties ! and made some rather pedestrian music in the 80's. Cerrones best output is between 1976-1980 so check any of his other albums out.
