4.0 out of 5 stars The soundtrack to 'Severe Anterograde Memory Syndrome', 1 Jun 2001
By A Customer
Your chance to relive Leonard Shelby's waking moments as dialogue snippets portray the confusion he suffers throughout the film. The original tracks have a rare quality that invokes heart palpitations triggering memories of the film itself, creeping up on you unexpectedly. My only regret is that more dialogue should have been included, especially Leonard's closing remarks. Even if you haven't seen the film it hangs together very well, and if you have it will help you remember Sammy. You remember what happened to Sammy Jankiss don't you ?

Yours etc.,

Peter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting companion to a damn good film, 28 Dec 2003
By Mr. A. J. Whiteway "andy-ru" (Londinium, uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Memento is one of the most downright original films of the last decade and David Julians score is equally original. As the film is backwards in that it starts at its end and works its way back to the beginning. The score is equally fractitous, often indistinguishably repeating themes and motifs (just listen to tracks 1 and 19). But the brilliance of the score lies in its ability to create the uncertain atmosphere that is contained within the film. Having said that 'Remember Me' is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have heard in a long time. The tracks from other artists is a mixed bag - treefingers oddly enough, feels more ni place here than it does in Kid A and it seems clear to me that both radiohead and David Julian are clearly influenced by Vangelis and his work on Blade Runner among other films. I also liked Stone by Monc, perfectly in keeping with the tone of the film (it is actually playing during the bar scene with lenard and carrie ann mosses character). The others however feel a bit tacked on and unnecessary. On the whole though this is an atmospheric soundtrack that is adventurous and interesting and a worthy companion to the film that spawned it.
Oh and finishing with a Bowie track is class.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best film soundtracks I have ever heard, 30 May 2001
By A Customer
Memento is one of the best films of recent years and the soundtrack is outstanding. With the addition of several remixes and extra tracks by well respected artists and the original score by David Julyan this cd completely rocks. David Julyan is obviously one to watch in the world of film music in the coming years.
