Compilations are often marred by at least some tracks that the purists are going to argue over and The Best Northern Soul All-Nighter...Ever is no exception. However, ask any northern soul fan to name 10 top tracks likely to get everyone on the dance floor and chances are classics like the once forgotten "Ghost in My House" by R Dean Taylor or the stomping "25 Miles" by Edwin Starr will be in there. Northern soul might be about rare cuts of classic soul tracks or stories surrounding lost gems that were never released, but for those that recall the original northern soul all-nighters and those discovering it, certain tracks always stick in the mind. For the uninitiated, the original "Tainted Love" as heard at Wigan all-nighter by a young Marc Almond is a revelation, whereas Shirley Ellis' "Soul Time" with its infectious counting ("2, 4, 6, 8, 22...") is guaranteed to get anyone out on the floor. True fans are likely to have most of the hits on this double CD, but if you're after a great introduction to the scene or you just want to listen again to some of those classic tracks that people travelled miles to dance to, The Best Northern Soul All-Nighter...
