Amazon.co.uk Review
Three years in the making,
Double Figure is
Plaid's third album for esteemed leftfield label Warp. Over the years, the ex Black Dog duo have been leaders in the whole "intelligent electronica" thing, filling their albums with pleasing melodies, zippy beats and clattering noises (2000s retrospective collection Trainer is seen by many as proof of their status as the most important electronic artists in Britain).
Double Figure is as good as anything they've done, with tracks fluctuating between
Plone-esque playful electronics and
Autechre style programmed experimentation. It's an enjoyable collection, much like 1998s
Rest Proof Clockwork (their earlier work was more introspective). Perhaps not as cutting edge as some of their earlier work, but immensely enjoyable nonetheless. --
