Synopsis

Legend has it that every 3000 years a God above all Gods named the chojin is born to unite the three races of earth. These three races are the makai(demons), the jujinkai(man-beasts) and the ninjinkai(humans) and each of these races are filled with hate for one another... and so on and so on...The storyline sounds kind of complicated but if you sit down and watch this properly it'll all sink in. Amano of the jujinkai has been searching for the chojin for 300 years but when he finally comes across him, he discovers that the legends have been misinterpretated and this leads to an incredible adventure filled with loads of action, gore and the odd quirky moment. (thats all i'll say, i really dont want to spoil it)This DVD contains urotsukidoji 1 & 2, the first one is incredible and the second one is ok. Theses films have become pretty infamous due to the excessive violence and nudity in the film. I am personally against anime porn (hentai) but the storyline kept me hooked. In my own opinion if urotsukidoji had been made without the umm... "kinky" scenes then it would be famous instead of infamous. On the plus side, the action is everything and more you would expect from an anime. If you are looking for loads of gore you've come to the right place. Look out for the classic battle between the main character amano and sui kakoo ju (i've probably spelt that wrong) it has set the standard for animes to follow this. The concept of a fight where the characters are in a kind of bubble thing and are flying around has been used quite a lot after this -eg pokemon the movie (remember mew and mewtwo)Some bits of this film are cheesy with a young couple getting together and dramatically declaring their love for eachother. Very cheesy, but it is enjoyable to see a film of this kind of genre that has nice light hearted moments. However this is kind of ruined in a way when they start getting intimate and it shows it. You feel like a right perve at times and it is quite annoying, I just fast forward it now.I think urot 2 is set in the middle of urot 1 for certain reasons. (Again I dont want to spoil anything) It is an alright, if slightly pointless sequel. There is still lots of gore and *grumble* anime nudity. Again plenty of action. In this film, you actually feel sorry for this character called Takeaki because he has lost his parents and has been poisoned with the chojins blood. So the makers have done a good job there. Even though I'm not overly fussed on the nude scenes, I have still given this 5 stars because the bits without the nudity are absolutely amazing and a joy to watch.These are two of the coolest, most action packed gorefests i have seen and i would recommend them to any anime fan!!!ENJOY!

If you are a fan of urotsukidoji DONT BUY THIS, This version is badly butchered and censored and is missing the japanese voices, That would not be so bad if the dubbed voices were any good but they arent, I have never seen a subbed manga with voices this bad actually. I have seen the first movie uncut/uncensored and it beats this version by FAR very FAR.

Urotsukidoji was the first anime fim I bought, way back when it was first released in 1992. From that day I have been a huge fan of the film and it's certainly the type that leaves a lasting impression upon the mind!
Many critics damned this film claiming it was little more than a gory horror packed full of sex and violence. Fair to say this is true to an extent, but all the 'controversial' sex and viloence isn't arbatrary and does have meaning within the context of the story. Funny that the critics failed to mention the strong themes of love, romance and age-old struggles that are concentrated on more than the sex and violence.
This film is definetely one of my favourite anime (and I've seen a lot!) and I'd reccomend anyone to watch it - male and female. Just start off with an open mind and a liberal approach and you may see under what the critic's didn't.
