Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Army Men--Green Rogue takes you back to those heady days of childhood when the toy box was thrown open and thousands of badly moulded green and beige-coloured toy soldiers were brought forth to fight the battle of the living room carpet.

The Green Rogue of the title is a super-soldier from the Green army, manufactured to take on the might of the opposition Beige army without support or backup. It's a high-powered shoot-em-up based in the third person, allowing the player to see their alter-ego running around a variety of environments turning the opposition to molten plastic with a variety of weapons ranging from machine guns to flamethrowers.

The control system takes an interesting slant using the left analogue controller to move the Rogue around and the right hand to direct weapon fire. Initially this feels a little unwieldy but with a little practice it becomes second nature and actually works rather well.

Graphics are functional but colourful and there's a real feeling of being a small soldier in a big big world.

Green Rogue seems firmly aimed at the younger end of the gaming market, it's very simple to pick up and play and violence levels are very low. More seasoned gamers may be better off looking towards the excellent Timesplitters, Unreal Tournament or Quake III for a little shooting delight as this is a little too gentle for many, but for younger players there's hours of entertainment to be had. --James Gordon

Manufacturer's Description

Green Rogue takes Army Men warriors where they've never been before--and probably weren't meant to go. Created in the Green Army Advanced Research Division (G.A.A.R.D.), this genetically engineered super soldier carries the plastogene markers of all the Sarge's Heroes warriors rolled into one high-explosive package. Code-named Omega Soldier, he's been given the skills, strength and weaponry to take on an entire army. And he'll need to. Sooner than they expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Game is fast, good looking and, above all, FUN!!, 9 April 2001
By A Customer
Okay, quick recap, the "Army Men" games are ment to be a bit on the crap side arent they? Well, perhaps this is the title the series needs, IMHO its the best "Army Men" title ive played (and ive played them all!!) its also fast, fun, furious and lots of other adjectives begining with F. I've had a PS2 since the launch day, and, although having in total 13 games until i bought this one, none have been either much fun (Excluding the fantastic Zone of Enders) or requiered much playing/a second player to unlock their depth. So, i was pleasantly surprised when i booted up my PS2 with this game inside and spent the next hour or 2 madly shooting people. Its the first game ive played in ages that hasnt required me to read the manual before playing it. Graphically, its pretty, with nice weapon effects and a nippy framerate if slightly simplistic characters. The gameplay is basic, it is a homage to the arcade games of the 80's such as Ikari warriors and the suchlike. The Sound is good, but the music is occasionally drowned out by the sound of explosions and dying, that said, the game isnt too violent, and i recommend it to parents worried about violence in games their children own. There is no blood, no swearing or overly complex gameply, just a great title which, unusally in the computer game industry nowadays, isnt trying to be something it isnt. A Fantastic game that'll keep you amused for weeks

3.0 out of 5 stars Another Disappointment!, 8 Aug 2008

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This game is basically a polished version of Omega Soldier on PS1. THe game play is more arcade like compared to other army men games. You simple move forward through levels blasting what ever moves.
There is a good range of enemy weapons and soldiers to beat and you also get plenty of weapon upgrades to use.
During levels you can also play anlongside a friend which can be fun!
The visuals aren't too bad for an Army Men game nor is the sound. A must have for any of the series fans but for general gamers I would give it a miss.

Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This game is poor, its sooooooooo boring, for one you start off and the camera ushers you forward, thats right you cant even move backwards to a certain point, and then this is where the tedeum kicks in, aim shoot move, aim shoot move, crappy boringness, aim shoot move, next level, and whats worse is none of my friends like it so i cant sell it to them, i dont wanna get ripped off at a shop and i cant sell it on here now that ive written this review, darn it.

DO NOT BUY, but you can from me ^_^

I rented Army Men: Green Rogue and it was really appealing. To begin with. After the first half an hour, it all went downhill. Read more
