5.0 out of 5 stars Truly adaptable, I found the Wireless USB adapter essential., 17 Aug 2002
Well, I'm no expert when it comes to setting up a network. But the LinkSys wireless product range really is a breeze to setup. I initially purchased the LinkSys broadband router (incl. wireless access point) for my home setup with the intention of connecting my laptop at a later date.
When this USB piece of kit arrived, I simply ran the enclosed setup disk, plugged it in and straightaway my laptop was online to the Internet. No slower dialup connection, this was instant and I mean FAST. I honestly didn't realize my old laptop would cope so well with a broadband connection, but this really has put fresh life back into it!
The best thing though is that I can now work anywhere at home... the garden, over breakfast in the kitchen or just relaxing in front of the TV.
The wireless network speed is not noticeably any different from the fixed LAN cables I have connected directly to the router. However the more clear the path is, the better the link is I have found. It just takes a bit of planning I suppose as to where you position the Wireless Access Point.

Oh yes, beware of this: Don't plug in the USB adapter until you have installed the software first! I don't know why, but apparently you shouldn't! I very nearly did, but just in time I noticed the bold statement telling you not too on the quick install guide.
Having said this, if you do bother to read the step-by-step installation guide, it is very clear.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great, but don't try online gaming with WinXP, 23 Sep 2003
I have been using the WUSB11 adapter for months now and it works like a charm with Windows 2000. Even on XP I don't have any problems until I start playing online games. I get constant 'connection interrupted' messages, which make gaming all but impossible. I spent weeks with Linksys support, but they would not admit that there is a problem or even look into it and in their last communication suggested that I not use a wireless network for online games!

I recently bought the Belkin wireless adapter and now all my problems (on XP) have gone away. If you are not running XP, I would heartily recommend the WUSB11, but stay away from it otherwise - at least until Linksys fixes the driver.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what is says on the tin!, 7 Jan 2003
By Mr. Justin A. Garnett "justin_garnett" (warwick, uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Put simply, it does exactly what it is supposed to with the minimum of hassle.

Within five minutes of opening the box I was connecting wirelessly to my broadband connection through the wireless router(another excellent product).

I was initially concerned about how far the wireless connection would work, the speed of connection and the size of the device. I am happy to report the all three concerns were unfounded with the speed being comparable to wired LAN connection all over the house/garden and the size of the device was about the size of pack of cigarettes or two palm pilots placed on top of each other.

The usb based connection makes this device far more flexible than a PCMCIA adapter as it can be used on latops and pc's.

If you are in the market for a wireless adapter to connect to your LAN / Broadband connection then this deserves serious attention.
