TurboCAD 7 Standard could be exactly what you're looking for if you need a grown up CAD application but don't care for the learning curve or price tag that accompany behemoths like AutoCad. TurboCAD 7 Standard could be exactly what you're looking for if you need a grown up CAD application but don't care for the learning curve or price tag that accompany behemoths like AutoCad. TurboCad uses the Standard MS Office toolbar layout and dockable palettes for symbol and block libraries and selection and measurement info. The tools are easy to use and work in an intelligent fashion. Walls resize to accommodate doors and windows and colour-coded object handles help to eliminate confusion when moving, rotating and resizing objects. Version 7 adds a vast number of new features including better 2-D and 3-D Boolean operations, new floating and shaped viewports, multiple, independent paper spaces, attachable camera objects and improved Internet functionality.
Extras include more than 14,000 symbols, 1,000 house plans, Corel OCR-trace and Floorplan 3-D v5--a stand-alone "Home Design Conceptualiser". Plans produced using Floorplan 3-D can be imported to TurboCad for automatic creation of dimensioned plan and elevation views with hidden lines, door and window schedules, roofs and foundations.

The improved interface has an Explorer like tree structure which is completely customisable and features new single click floating palettes.
New Light creation tools include ambient, point, spot and light, surface modelling allows creation of surface meshes, and Photo-Realistic Rendering comes complete with shadows, background rendering, hidden line rendering in perspective, render options in viewports and support for acceleration cards.
Fully compatible with AutoCAD and MicroStation, including total file sharing compatibility with AutoCAD2000I.
Also includes the new FloorPlan Bridge ave as a .JPG, for an easier online experience! PLUS an interactive TC7 introductory course.
