5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking CD from Nick B., 24 May 2006
I have to agree with music fans comments - this CD is a masterpiece. When I originally purchased this CD last year I profess to not being to sure about the vocals. The musicianship and quality of the songs is not in question, indeed Nick Barretts guitar playing is phenomenal throughout. The question is however - what about the vocals. Well Nicks voice is emotive and is perhaps an acquired taste but me - I truly believe!! Pendragon would not be Pendragon without Nick's vocals this guy sings like he really means it and at times your heart will bleed for him - if you have ever been through the pain of divorce you can relate. I am a 48-year-old, now happily re-married, musical cynic yet this CD has opened a whole new musical era for me & needless to say I now have most of their back catalogue, much of which is also excellent, but none for me reach the heady heights of NOTW.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic & Beautiful, 24 Feb 2007
By Progger (Ireland) - See all my reviews
This album is absolutely fantastic and uplifting. From the opening instrumental which builds up in a somewhat Floydish 'Shine on your Crazy Diamond' manner, through to the end this is full of beautiful melodies, superb composition and skilful playing. It's a great chillout album. Nick Barrett's guitar playing is brilliant especially in 'Nomadic Traits' and throughout is well supported by melodic keyboards.

If I had to be critical, I would agree with other reviewers comments on Nick Barrett's vocals but these don't detract too much from the album and the last track of the album proper (World's End) also labours a little. The acoustic bonuses at the end (adapted from tracks on the previous Masquerade Overture) are very good and for some reason the vocals are very good here.

At 80 minutes or so this album is great value and should not be missed. Overall this is Pendragon's best and most consistent album and should be in everyone's CD collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding album, 13 Nov 2001
By A Customer
If you love progressive rock then this album is a must. Rarely has there been such a spine-chiller, possibly not since "Foxtrot" or "Wish You Were Here". They say that artistic genius is born out of adversity and I believe this is the case with Nick Barrett. He has written a masterpiece.
