The most probing performance of the first concerto I have ever heard. Rostropovich, who I've always found, suprisingly a little uninvolved and Schiff, who up until hearing this had pride of place on my CD shelves, don't approach Natalia's incite and pure atheletic prowess. It has the kind of demonic intensity that only Oistrakth and Richter in Shostakovich seem capable of. White heat.
