Product Description

Product Description

Note: This is not a standalone product. It is for use in conjunction with a Handspring Visor PDA

The only digital camera designed specifically for the Visor's innovative Springboard expansion slot. The eyeModule digital camera captures images in colour or black and white using a low-power CMOS imaging array. Once inserted into the Visor, the eyeModule adds only 15 mm to the length and adds no thickness and practically no weight to the Visor. Images are viewed in real time on the Visor's screen, and can be captured using a single or multiple image timer.

Images can be: Annotated and categorised; Beamed to other PalmOS devices; Renamed, organised and have attached notes; E-mailed and printed from your Windows PC; Converted to JPEG format and e-mailed or printed from a Windows PC or Mac.

The eyeModule expands the usefulness of the Visor, turning it into an image capture device for business or pleasure. A Visor Deluxe with 5MB free memory can hold more than 500 black and white images (at 160x120 pixels), over 125 large black images (320x240 pixels) or over 25 colour images (colour images are greyscale when viewed on the Visor, 320x240 pixels). A 2MB Visor will hold approximately 1/4 the above.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wait for the eyemodule 2, 19 May 2001
By A Customer
The eyemodule is a wonderful product. It is the one module that I can justify having for my handspring. Wonderful as it is, the eyemodule 2 is much superior. Wait for that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Toy, 6 Feb 2001
By A Customer
Just wanted to add weight to what the previous reviewers have said: the eyemodule IS NOT the only camera you will ever need - the picture quality leaves something to be desired - but IT IS great fun.

I bought one for my partner for Christmas (no ulterior motive there - I didn't have a Visor at the time - but I do now!). It is now a permanent part of her handbag kit and goes everywhere. Despite the limitations to pic quality it has proved great fun for reporting back on trips, purchases etc etc. It is probably good enough to include passport size snaps in your access database of contacts for example.

We too have suffered a crash that appears to have been related to use of the eyemodule -

Have concentrated on negative aspects in this review - however - suffice to say that when a new higher res. version comes out - we will be in the queue to have one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the only digital camera you'll ever need... but fun, 6 Jan 2001
By A Customer
I was given this for Christmas 2000 and it's a lot of fun. Be warned that the picture quality is no substitute for a proper digital camera. Nor would the picture quality be good enough for a PowerPoint presentation... but it is a lot of fun.

In its lowest pixel form it captures small, passport sized black and white snaps, which upload to your computer in a flash and are great as email attachments. As you increase the definition and move into colour mode, the shortcomings of the imsge become apparent.

But as a gadget it's second to none and a lot of fun. It's my first Handspring module and it would encourage me to buy others.

The software in the package is for PCs only, Mac users have to download from the eyemodule website, but that doesn't take long and it works fine.

The one star is docked just to remind you that as a digital camera, the photo qualtity leaves a little to be desired.
