In this far-from-perfect world of ours, one seldom comes across anything as close to perfection as Happy the Man and their two albums "Happy the Man" (1977) and "Crafty Hands" (1978). (Several compilations of archive material have surfaced after the band ceased to exist, but these are the only recordings released during the band's lifetime.) This American group took what was best in the so-called progressive rock and created their own brand of "chamber rock": finely crafted compositions immaculately played. And we are talking compositions with a capital C here - they are complex and multi-layered, but so well structured and executed that they still manage to be very easy on the ear. This is rock beyond progressive and indeed well worth a listen. These re-releases have been meticulously remastered so the sound quality is stunning as well. Highly recommended!
