Often called the greatest unknown guitarist in the world, certainly in the country blues arena he is the greatest known guitarist as well, SRV is not on the same planet as this guy. Quite simply the most awesome guitar soloing you will ever hear.

Roys problem was he was a genuine tortured soul and as such his albums could be inconsistent, so my advice is stick to the best compilations from his three labels. ( The classic original albums are the 2 on 1 RB 1st & 2nd Album, Live in Japan & When a Guitar Plays the Blues)

These recordings for the Chicago label Alligator date from the mid eighties and are from Roys final 3 albums. Totally blistering blues rock with guitar to die for. Buy with the polydor era Millenium Collection and Atlantic Era Guitar on Fire collection to hear the greatest electric blues guitar ever.
