Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Fresh from a brace of high-profile cameos (on Dre's 2001 and Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP), the buzz on Xzibit's third record is deafening and that's even before the music begins. The intro to Restless is a blur of testimonials proclaiming the Likwit Crew rapper's credentials as the most likely to. And on this Dr. Dre executive-produced album, the gravel-voiced battle-rhymer barks with stentorian authority like a platoon leader in the midst of pitched urban warfare. Opener "Front 2 Back" kicks off with a blast of custom car hydraulics and backs it up with sucker punch strings. "U Know" features a shaky, jalopy-piano of the kind found in Wild West saloons and a cameo from Dr. Dre, claiming to be "Doc Holliday in the flesh". The Snoop-guesting "D.N.A. (Drugs-N-Alkahol)" uncoils like distressed space funk; and Slim Shady steals the show on "Don't Approach Me" as he tries to make timely sense of suicide attempts and parking lot altercations in the media glare, coming to the conclusion that his eventual end lies in sharp-shooting the world from a rooftop lair. "Rimz & Tirez" is a lowrider's wet dream loaded with a trunk of funk and Kokane's Curtis Mayfield-like falsetto wail. On "Fuckin You Right", X gleefully runs down a PlaySkool roll call of one-night stands, while "Best Of Things" is a trademark Dre production, all forceful strings stabs, metred beats and sing-song chorus. There is no let-up for the Golden State Warrior whose restless soul leaves deep tread marks over every track. --Chris Campion

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor...... Very Poor Indeed, 1 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Restless is a poor album and should be avoided at all costs. If you are looking for anything similar to At The Speed Of Life then you won't find it here. Ever since Xzibit has hooked up with Dr Dre his work has went down the drain. We can see this especially on tracks like "D-N-A" in which Snoop Dogg makes a guest appearence. All the guest appearences, with the exeption of J-Ro, E-Swift, Tash,Eminem, DJ Quik and Suga Free, kick weak rhymes and rely on Xzibit to carry them. So, if you are looking for a good Xzibit album, then buy At The Speed If Life instead.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok...Few Tight Tracks, 24 Mar 2002
Overall i think this album was overhyped as it was Xzibits first cross into the mainstrea with the single "X" but i think towards the end of the Album the tracks begin to fade with numerous Guest Appearances. And a constant subject matter of Girls, Henessey and Blunts.Tracks like "U Know" and "X" and "Don't Approach Me" along with are examples of why Xzibits is one of the best West Coast rappers along with Dr.Dre on production but i think Songs like "Kennt Parker Show 2001" bring Xzibit down.

5.0 out of 5 stars These are some of the best joints to come out of the West Coast for a long time., 21 Feb 2001
These are some of the best joints to come out of the West Coast for a long time. The West Coast set is now Complete with Dr Dre Snoop Dogg and Now the up and coming XZIBIT. With his gritty lyrics and the help of Dr Dre on the production side of things make this album a must have for people who like gangsta rap.

With a whole array of big names on show X zibit has a lot of help to show off his rapping ability and sheer talent with the mic.

Some of the bigger tracks on this album are. "Front 2 Back" a song that takes the fx of a low rider and blends them into an amazing drum beat and thats just the first 20 seconds! "Alkaholik" Featuring tha liks is an amzing piece of work with an electronic beat and tha liks vocals on top of this makes it top quality a personal favorite of mine. "U know" is a big tune with Dre producing giving it that little extra special touch with great pianos backing and a guest appearance by Dre with the chorus....
