Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Five years ago, the 3-D platform genre was exciting, as titles like Crash Bandicoot and Mario 64 ruled the console roost. Since then, we have seen the 3-D platform genre fill up with a few copycats and some outright stinkers. However, there have been a few classics in the intervening years, such as Banjo-Tooie. Now Rayman 2: Revolution can join the club.

Like past instalments, Rayman 2: Revolution borrows gameplay elements from a variety of different sources, but they are sources worth borrowing from. Several elements from Rayman 2: The Great Escape have been pilfered, including a similar story line. Revolution has a good combination of beautiful graphics, great controls, and enhanced gameplay. This will astound hard core gamers and those new to the hobby. There is enough puzzle solving, lever pulling, item collecting and platform jumping action to keep even the most ardent platform enthusiast busy for quite some time.

Admiral Razorbeard and his army of robots have enslaved the planet, and it's your job in Revolution to help Rayman search for pieces of the Primordial Core and summon Polokus to get rid of the robotic pirates. The levels are the same as in The Great Escape, but, due to the power of the PS2 and the detail put into reworking the levels for the game, they look spectacular. Ubi Soft has mixed old-school gameplay with graphical power, and mixed together those ingredients make this game a must-play for gamers of all ages.

Despite the borrowed elements from The Great Escape, Revolution for the PS2 offers up plenty of new thrills that will make the hearts of platform gamers skip a beat, just like the first time they played Mario 64 or Crash Bandicoot. It looks like this time, Rayman will finally get the respect he deserves. --Todd Mowatt

Product Description
If you've already played Rayman 2 on the Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 or PSone, don't despair: the makers have added all-new levels to Rayman Revolution and have improved the gameplay from previous versions. For those who haven't played Rayman 2, you're in luck, as Rayman returns in this 3-D adventure game that will keep you hopping through several graphically stunning game environments. Fans of Sonic, Mario and other platform games will enjoy the familiar gameplay. While the French-created Rayman character may not be as recognizable as Sonic or Mario, he does bear a distinct animated look, managing to keep it together despite the lack of any body limbs to connect his head, hands and feet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Genuine amusement for girls as well, 28 Oct 2001
By A Customer
I bought this game because both my female flat mates said that hated any sort of computer game. It is true that few girls want to play Gran Turismo A-spec or Quake III. A little research made me think that this game would have girl appeal. Luckily or unluckily they both like the game a lot. Other reviewers have said that the game is unchallenging and and too easy, but for non-hard core gamers, this is an entertaining play, with sufficient puzzles, challenges and variety to keep you entertained. I wasn't expecting to have to water ski, fly or scuba dive, but each is a slightly different skill. I have enjoyed playing the game and when my flat mates complete it it will be good to have the playstation back! Point made, there are games that appeal to girls!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Near Perfect Game, 24 Mar 2001
By A Customer
A lot of thought has obviously gone into producing this title. The gameplays difficulty level increases at the same speed that you get to grips with the control system, to build up to a challenging a varied game. Rayman doesn't only run, jump, grab etc. there is a waterskiing section, rocket riding sections and clever use of his helicoptor abilities to add great variety to the game (and this is only in the first 1/5th of the game, plus bonus levels gallore which includes a cutsey football game. For the game genre that it's under I believe that you would be hard pushed to get more value for money in quality, gameplay, sound and graphics. I have been wating for such a well developed game since I had my ZX Spectrum 48K. Don't just think about it buy it, it's a classic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great if you're a non-speccy occasional user, 2 April 2002

(REAL NAME)
Rayman Revolution is a "cute" character platform game with various stages and worlds. I have really enjoyed playing it and find it ideal for someone who isn't addicted to Playstation games and has a social life so only plays them for fun when the weather is bad or if I have a monster hangover. If you're the sort of person who gets frustrated with games having too much leap-twist-jump-and-grab in one manoevre and gets hold of the walkthrough at the earliest opportunity then this game is perfect! You don't need a walkthrough and it's got some really nice bits where you jump on a hissing snake or a leaping barrel and Raymans floppy ears make me chuckle. The only thing I find annoying is the American accents and sometimes it's a bit too sappy. Other than that I give it the thumbs up.
