NBA Live 2001 starts this season with an enhanced atmosphere--new animated bench sequences, reactions, interactions and celebrations--with all of the pro teams and arenas, including a new outdoor court. For your listening pleasure, this year's model features improved sound effects and commentary by the likes of Bob Elliott. NBA Live 2001's rewards system will unlock bonuses like new hairstyles, shoes and player features to reward outstanding play. And if you are missing the styles of retired stars, you can still play many of the game's greatest legends in one-on-one or five-on-five game.

While there isn't much left to add to the Live series at this point, somehow EA has managed to bump up the realism even further. NBA Live 2001 is the best playing b-ball sim on any system.NBA Live 2001 truly comes into its own in one area especially: control. It's really hard to find one single move innate to the NBA game that isn't included. You can get your feet wet with just the shoot, pass, turbo and jump commands, but after a few hours you'll be looking for more control, and Live 2001 delivers. Spinning, crossing over your dribble, faking and calling for picks are all at your fingertips, just waiting to be used. You may even post up and choose from four separate moves to go hard to the rack or use icon passing to hit your man at the back door. On defense, you can face up on your man and challenge him to drive to the hoop, call for a double team, or swat the ball away with either the steal or jump commands.
