A collection of timeless ballads filled with mystery and hidden passion. With Queen of the Meadow Elysian Fields beautifully evoke a nocturnal dreamworld. The breathy, half whispered vocals of Jennifer Charles bring these haunted tales to life. An enchanting, sultry air permeates; from the gentle whirlwind of Black Acres through the breaking waves of Tides of the Moon to the quiet collapse as Cities Will Fall. For dreamers and lovers everywhere the Queen of the Meadow will entrance and delight.

This album is full of suprises. From the upbeat and Garbage-esque Bend Your Mind to the incredibly drawn out pleasure of Fright Night it manages to morph genres to quite an amazing degree. However, while this can often be a recipe for disaster, Elysian Fields manage to retain a very strong identity throughout due at least in part to the seductive and sensual vocals of Jennifer Charles who manages to bind the album into a very coherent whole which has obviously had a lot of work put into it. This becomes even more apparent after repeat listenings which reveal each song to have enough depth to float a small ocean liner. In short buy this album. It is a classic.
