Amazon.co.uk Review

If you've played EA's previous James Bond game on PlayStation, Tomorrow Never Dies, you probably won't be looking forward to The World Is Not Enough. However, although it could most accurately be described as GoldenEye-lite, The World Is Not Enough (TWINE) offers a much more satisfying experience than the previous effort both graphically and gameplay-wise.

As you might expect you play the part of 007, and the action is viewed from a first-person perspective. As each levels begins you are given a set of objectives by M and these have to be completed before you can proceed.

These tasks mainly involve shooting as many bad guys as possible with a variety of satisfyingly chunky weaponry, but there are also skiing, driving, gambling (one of the most fun) and stealth levels. With the latter utilising some neat gadgetry provided by John Cleese's R (the only actor from the film actually voicing his character in the game).

The game follows the plot of the film very closely, with 10 levels being linked by extensive movie footage. An experienced gamer will not have too many problems finishing TWINE in a few hours, and the extensive violence makes this game unsuitable for younger players, but most James Bond fans will find much to entertain them in this diverting romp. --Michael Bartley

Product Description

The World is Not Enough is the highly anticipated sequel to the Nintendo 64's hugely popular first-person shooter, Golden Eye 007. Playing as James Bond, you'll accomplish mission objectives while using your License to Kill any bad guy in your sites. Crouch, jump, swim, climb and run through each mission. There are three difficulty settings, each one making the bad guys tougher while adding mission objectives. And, playing to Bond's particularly glamorous skills, there is a forced-scrolling skiing-and-shooting level. Get important game info from the good guys you meet, including Q and M.

As with its predecessor, The World is Not Enough's multiplayer mode is sure to be very popular. The game will have at least five multiplayer arenas for two-on-two, two-on-one, and three-on-one teams. Choose any character from the single-player mode, designate Artificial Intelligence controlled players, and customise the match's settings: starting arsenal, weapons available for pickup, health power-ups and match duration.

5.0 out of 5 stars There is only one bond, 15 Mar 2002
By A Customer
The cartridge has not been taken out of my console since i bought this on a whim. What a game. Not just shooting but genuine strategy. A brilliant mix of mindless violence when you go back to the simple levels and caution and strategy on the harder levels. The multiplayer is probably the best feature. Get this one set up on the widescreen and see the rapt attention on four faces as you attempt to kill each other. 2v2 team mode has shouts of co-ordination accross the room. Worthe every one of the five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bond Game to end all Bond Games, 2 Dec 2001
Ah, Bond is back, and is it about time? Yes it is, but the question is, was it worth the wait? The answer, again, yes!
It may be annoying you need a controller pack to save it, and sure, some of the one player levels may be slightly tricky but it's the multiplayer that really brings this game to life.
Goldeneye may have been good and before I player TWINE I would have agreed that Goldeneye boasted the best Multiplayer out, but now I have changed my mind, TWINE beats Goldeneye hands down. There are loads of multiplayer options and also you can add bots to a match. This is good, but what's even better is that you can play the multiplayer on your own against three bots.
I remember playing multiplayer games on Goldeneye, and how long I used to spend plugging the opponents with bullets before they would go down. An advantage with TWINE is that the characters have less health and this speeds the whole game up, making the multiplayer a hectic experience.
Perfect for beginners as well, not that any of you are.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a Goldeneye or Perfect Dark beater., 29 Mar 2001
By A Customer
TWINE is a thrilling shoot em' up game, it's got good weapons and gadgets throughout the game. The levels are long and complicated, which keeps you thinking. The characters, cut scenes and speech are really well done and altough it's not as good as Rarewares Goldeneye or Perfect Dark it'll keep you on the edge of your seat.
