This album will almost certainly baffle most people. In fact, most people will probably hate this album. Undeniably his equally most challenging offering to date (alongside the idiosyncratic Infinity album), this work's beauty is unrecognisable to the majority but inescapable to the few. In many ways Devin has given us a more intense ride than previously with Strapping Young Lad and yet melodically he, in parts, supercedes his Ocean Machine masterpiece. If you don't believe in God, think again. Devin Townsend IS God.

Simply mindblowing stuff - some people say it's SYL 'lite' - while it's true in a sense (all SYL band members are here), the musical style is completely different - it's lighter, spacier and more melodic. I love Physicist! Devin Townsend is a musical genius.

I love Synchestra, Accelerated Evolution and Terria but the Physicist is not quite up there in my opinion. This is based on 3 listenings - perhaps unfair? If you have to prioritise your spending then maybe bypass the Physicist.
