5.0 out of 5 stars A really great jazz trio, 16 April 2002
What a group, Shelly Manne, Andre Previn, Leroy Vinnegar, and My Fair Lady this CD's a real swinger. Andre Previn seems to have made so few jazz records and yet in my book he is among the best jazz pianists some how he can improvise on a tune without loosing sight of the melody. Pity he had to spend so much time on the other side.

Vinnegar and Manne do tend to play supporting roles but are vital to the driving piano. A good CD, in fact, a very good CD, if you like, My Fair Lady, jazz trios or good music buy it. You won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic - brilliant!, 29 Dec 2007
I used to listen to the original in the 50's in the Sixth Form and later had a cassette copy which was lost in time. Listening to this is like meeting up with an old friend - the memories just flood back.
We always knew that Andre Previn was special, and he has proved it.
A brilliant record, still as good as it was in 1956.

4.0 out of 5 stars Previn - the jazz artist, 22 Jun 2003

I just love this album and have listened to it countless times since getting it. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 merely because there is a noticeable hiss which I believe they could have done more to get rid of. The performances of all concerned on this collection of the best songs from "My Fair Lady" are well-nigh perfect. Shelly Mann's drums prove that he is at the top of the heap, Previn is a superb improviser. Highlights include "On the street where you live" and (my own favorite) "With a little bit of luck". Well worth the money.
