OK, so Doves are not underground, but considering the quality of the album, the praise and exposure has been very small. I bought this album when it first came out and considered it as a slight gamble, as I knew very few of their tracks. I bought it off the back of the single 'Catch the Sun' and was definately not disappointed. Every single track is superb, well written and composed. I would advise everyone to take the gamble that I did and I guarantee that you will not be dissapointed. This is a fine album, and is much better than bands such as Coldplay, who are highly overrated. This is one of the best albums to emerge from 2000. A quality, little known and mature album. Definately one to add to your collection.

Heard "The Man Who Told..." on radio and fell instantly in love with the song. I saw this album in every critical list of 2000, and took a chance with it. What a fantastic, dark and claustrophobic record. With its heartfelt and emotion heavy vocals, and wailing guitars, you can feel exactly what the critics are raving about (for once). Dont miss out, and remember when you listen to it that it took more than 8 years to make this, and various bad things happened ..... to Doves. Its all the better for that.

It's a beautiful record. No need for babbling on about guitars meshing with strong vocals and synthesisers-that's irrelevant "The man who told everything" is the only feesable "Chart" track-everything else is on the albumn becuase it doesn't conform with traditional "chart" music-making it a perfect experience for the listener. And that's what is is-perfection-pure and simple.
