Product Description
Amazon.co.uk Review
Remix is not necessarily the best description afforded to Frederic Galliano's Frikyiwa project. Linking with World music label Cobalt, he has struck a sensory connection between European and African contemporary music, resulting in a series of single releases based on Cobalt's original artist back catalogue, and several of Europe's more sympathetic producers. This careful pairing has led to another balanced selection of exclusive alternative versions and previously available versions. Galliano himself exposes the pitch shifting genius of the Neba Solo collective, "Noumou Foly" utilising the "music journey" cliché quite literally, amidst 11 minutes of unedited drums and layered percussion. Switzerland's Alex Attias invites Jessica Lauren on board for additional atmospherics on Nahawa Doumbia's "Yankaw", a track that brews for four minutes before unleashing into deeper tribal territory. With IG Culture and the diverse dub of Pole also included, this is a focused project that promotes and unites the diametric poles of African rhythm and Western synthesis.--Found Sounds
