Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

There is no need to spend a fortune on a professional garden designer when you can create your own dream garden on your computer with 3D landscape 2 Deluxe. By simply clicking your mouse button you can place trees, shrubs, water features and more than 100 features such as brick pathways and wooden fences. This advanced garden design program provides you with realistic 3-D views and you can even see your garden change through the seasons.

The program is packed with design tips. If you're looking to create a garden, you might want a small city one; a formal landscape or a garden for thoughts, which is deliberately intended as a tranquil retreat. Once you've selected your plants and trees, you can test how big they will get. By pressing the play button, everything you have planted starts to grow on your screen and you can easily see what size it will become over a number of years.

There are handy professional tips as well. If you are looking to choose specific grass for your lawn, you are advised to take into account climate, growth speeds, watering, foot traffic and maintenance.

Overall this is a detailed program and it gives you enormous choice including more than 2,200 plants to choose from and you can even use innovative tools like the shadow caster to help you plan where shadows fall.

Whether you are a professional designer or a gardening enthusiast, this program will let you design the garden you want without you even having to pick up a spade. --Justin Hunt

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap but not so cheerful, 29 Jan 2003
By A Customer
As has been said elsewhere, this program does represent good value for money, and a satisfactory but basic visual interpretation of your garden design. However, the down-sides may well have you screaming at the program rather than singing its praises.

Currently, the most frustrating problems can be summerised as: 1) curved edges are not automatically available - instead straight lines are stretched onto an elipse template (and not very well in the 3-D mode where you are designing a brick path for a small garden); 2) not enough options on the hard landscaping e.g. no bark chippings, water features limited, different types of edging; 3) no 'Ctrl' + 'Z' undo; 4) difficult to select objects; and 5) a growing feeling that the range of plants which you can select is designed with the North-American market in mind, given that those listed in RHS books invariably fail to be available!

I feel that many of the niggles I have with the program are because the programmers have seriously failed to pay attention to details and have been sloppy. I therefore don't recommend this program - and I didn't even need to use the slope function!

1.0 out of 5 stars Prehistoric..., 11 Mar 2004
By Should've known better (Andover, Hampshire England) - See all my reviews
I've just installed this software and then loaded one of the sample designs shipped on the cd - I couldn't believe how bad the 3D graphics are! This program is something that might have been considered ok back in the mid 90's, but not for this century. I've just been looking at some of the file dates on the cd - most are 1996 vintage, which doesn't surprise me in the least....

3.0 out of 5 stars useful tool but limited, 17 Feb 2002
By A Customer
I bought this as an experiment and found it easy to use.For the price it is excellent but the features such as sheds, birdtables etc are limited and the sloping tool is an all or nothing affair, you cannot have sloped areas and level areas although you can put some lumps and bumps in.I called the free helpline and they were friendly and helpful but it seems this is an early version of this software and it has been superceded, although they still havent cracked the slope problem.
