Teenage Dirtbag Baby!, 15 Jan 2002
Exploding onto the scene with the very popular and successful single Teenage Dirtbag,the song propelled Wheatus into rock's elite,even if they have endured some harsh critisism.Whilst bands like Sum 41 and Blink 182 have found success with similar sounding songs,Wheatus bring a fresh approach to the rock scene and whilst not being everyone's cup of tea,they prove on this album they can write good songs.
As a whole the album is very solid.The singles Teenage Dirtbag,A Little Respect and Leory/Wannabe Ganster are very good,as too are the accompaning tracks like Hump 'Em and Dump 'Em and Truffles.
It cannot be denied that this is a very good album and when Wheatus release their new album later this year,I'm sure they will enjoy the same amount of success as they did in 2001.

From the moment I put this CD in my CD Player and heard the ominous drumming get louder and louder I started to worry about what I had just let myself in for. Then the punishment began as the cheesy guitar tunes of songs like Truffles and Sunshine made me wonder what possesed me to buy this album, then as Teenage Dirtbag came on I remebered briefly, but only briefly why I thought Wheatus were great. Then, however I began to realise that after that short interval things could only get worse. And did they? Well, yes, they did. Songs like Hey Mr. Brown really speak for themselves with the repetitive guitar chords droning on in the background and with lyrics, which at this stage in the album seem so repetitive that they make Turn and Sing by Travis seem completely different frome each other. The only thing that really works with this album is the length. Any longer and I probably would of collapsed, any shorter and they probably would of cut Teenage Dirtbag out. And then finally when you realise that you have just waited 35 minutes of your life you can go, make urself a cup of tea and back in the glory of your brand new Official Wheatus Coaster and then why not go out with friends in the sunshine and have a game of Wheatus Frisbee?? Perfect to while away these summer days.

Come back Wheatus! Come back!, 24 Aug 2002
Ever since Teenage Dirtbag exploded onto the scene of 2001, there has been a lot of expectation leading up to their debut album. There was an understandable amount of pressure on the band to come up with an explosive debut, after Teenage Dirtbag became one of the biggest sellers of 2001. Thankfully, this is not as bad an effort as it may seem.
Every song is tolerable, which is always a good sign for a semi serious rock band, and they are also rather good. And when played over and over, it is sensational. Truffles, for instance, the first track, is a funny (if the lyrics are listened to correctly), rocking and quite good song. Leroy is the next non hit outstanding song, with odd, but quite warm lyrics that catches you up in an frenzy of guitars. There are a couple more great songs, but they are all over shadowed by Punk A** B*tch, a magneficent rock out of a song, with bellowing lyrics and contrast between verses. After that, you would expect something pretty brilliant to top it, but instead you are given the slow and emotional "Wannabe Gangster', as a last track (those of you who saw the Wannabe Gangster video are probably confused at this point. The song released "Wannabe Gangster" was a remade version of the song on the album.). Instead of rocking us out at the end, we are instead greeted by the soft voices and slow guitars. It's amazing, mind. To typify the whole mood, the song fades away with cruel laughing children, saying lyrics from the song mockingly, and with the little abused boy crying...Overall, a resounding effort, and the fact that they have gone for a while is honestly starting to scare me. Come back Wheatus! Come back!
