Don't overlook this CD of Brahms' first piano concerto coupled with Schumann's Introduction and Concert Allegro; to do so would be to pass on what I believe is a great recording. I have a few versions of the Brahms and this is probably my favourite!

Idil Biret has recorded loads of CDs for Naxos, including a complete Chopin set, along with Brahms solo piano works. She is an unsung heroine of the piano world. Her playing in these demanding works sparkles and she is admirably backed by the Polish NRSO under Antoni Wit.

Coupled with fine sound quality and good notes, this Naxos CD is one of the stars of their ever-growing catalogue. You can't possibly go wrong at the price.

Strongly recommended.
