2.0 out of 5 stars The Hidden One is Best!, 27 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Yet another F-18 simulator, and it does the job okay. The cockpit display all works and a range of angles to view it all at once make it useful. Thwe outside graphics do not reach this standard, hoever, with the sea looking like a shhet of flat paper, and the detail on the land looks like a map with faetures stuck onto it. Of course yopu can do all the F-18 sort of missions (Fleet defeding, interception and ground attack) with each requiring the skills of a carrier take off and landing.

There is the need if having a powerful graphics card and a joystick tio use this progarm at all though, so be warned!

The biggest surprise in all this is the inclusion of the WarBirds demo, which is basically and online WW2 fighter simulation, using more that 35 of the best fighters of the era. This demo is not even mentioned on the cover, but I found it browsing and it is a superior game and simulation.

The cockpit details are mostly the best I have seen and the flight dynamics seem to work very authentically too (the Spitfire Mk1 has a cutting out engine in a forward push over, and the P-40 stalls frequently as in reality). I don't have much to say against WarBirds, as even the bombers have operable turret or hand-held guns and bomb-sights, and the whole thing is more a simulation than game. There IS scoring for shooting down a plane and landing, but its really all about surviving within you chosen planes parameters.
