Product Description

CD Description

1999 was a very good year for Kid606, aka Miguel Depedro. Stacks of remixes, several well-received albums, and constanttouring boosted Depedro's profile as a young ambassador of underground electronica. P.S. I LOVE YOU, released through the prestigious Mille Plateaux label, is the Kid's crowning glory.
Where the earlier DOWN WITH THE SCENE presents an overview of such incongruous Kid606 modes as chin-stroking glitch music, brutalising gabber breaks, and mutant cyberfunk,P.S. I LOVE YOU offers a consistent suite of mature click and cut composition. Melody is Kid606's secret weapon, and hewields it masterfully. "Together" plasters digital iridescence over rippling rhythms. "Twirl" and the splendid "Strum" twist slight guitar samples into coruscating melodic motifs.Beatless beauties such as "Sometimes" and "Now I Wanna Be aCowboy" find indelible hooks in the conflation of heavily manipulated sounds. The effervescent glitchwork of "Sonquizzover" revisits Kid606's standout CLICKS+CUTS contribution, while the streamlined "Whereweleftoff" pursues the propulsive minimal-techno tack promoted by labels like Tresor and Delsin. The album's final track, a spliced series of subtle electro-acoustic notions called "**** Up Everything You Can Before You Plan on Slowing Down", could well be the indefatigableand immensely talented Kid's personal mantra.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Love you to Kid 606, 31 Dec 2000
Kid 606 puts his feet up and really appreciates life on this album. This album is considerably mellower than his most recent albums, GQ on the EQ and Down With The Scene. The distinctive KID 606 sound is here but with out the usual aggression think, for when yr happy to be alive, of Down With The Scene and you have the general idea.

If you are into electronic music in any way I would recommend buying KID 606, however I would start with, Down With The Scene and GQ on the EQ, as that is more typical of his work. For existing fans this is a fine addition to your collection.

P.S. I Love you to KID 606

4.0 out of 5 stars different, but equally good, 13 Nov 2000
By A Customer
Ahh - so happy! This is a bit of a departure for Kid 606. Normally we'd associate him with mad screeching noises and samples whizzing by at ten zillion miles per hour, ala Lsr, omnibot, v/vm etc. But this is mellow and spacey and light and floaty and altogether more relaxing, but with just as much depth as his heavier stuff. Standout tracks are definitely "Fuckup everything" and "strum", but all the others are just as brilliant. Top stuff. Vocals wud b nice though! :oD
