Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Ferry Corsten AKA System F, one of the trance scenes best known DJs delivers the goods on this 38-track double CD, taking you on a sonic journey through and beyond the furthest reaches of modern-day underground trance. Opening up the mix with the future classic "Kernkraft 400" by Zombie Nation, Ferry eagerly guides us through the defining sound of y2k trance. Other peaks include storming tunes from artists such as Darude with the anthemic "Sandstorm" and a spine-tingling mix of William Orbit's take on "Barber's Adagio for Strings". Other club-fillers on this album are all guaranteed to have you dancing on the speaker stacks. They include Planet Perfecto's "Bullet in the Gun", its female vocals drifting through self-assured beats, and NY trance guru Josh Winx on the remix of Lil Louis' "French Kiss" with "How's Your Evening so Far?" An epic adventure for trance lovers everywhere. --Danny Johnstone

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Compilation, 15 April 2001
By A Customer
I have all 4 Trance Nations. They are all good in their own way. TN1 was original and varied and and at the very start of the Trance Culture. TN2 was suberbly melodic and clubby. By the time TN3 came along some of the tracks were getting airplay but the Trance vibe was stronger than ever. TN4 is set out very similarly to TN3. The 1st CD has the known tracks on but is uplifting and pounding. Although this CD has a lot of Ibiza stuff on it it still has some stronger, Trancier mixes than Ibiza originals. Take Solar Stone's take on Planet Perfecto's Bullet In The Gun, for example. The 2nd CD starts with borderline trance-tech and transhouse stuff with the melodic DJ Tiesto's mix of Delerium - Silence. As soon as you hit System F - Lost In Motion the trance kick hits hard and the songs you go clubbing for really break through. The 2nd CD almost being like a liveset. This album is well worth the money and if you can get a hold of Trance Nation 02>>00, its German and a couple of years old but it is excellent.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but very little that isn't available elsewhere, 24 Feb 2007
By Ben Barden (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trance Nation, Vol. 4 (Audio CD)
Looks like this could be quite a long running series. Trance Nation 3 was great, so I immediately bought volume four on the day it was released. I was to be somewhat disappointed, though.

Trance Nation 4 is a major let down compared to the previous volumes. As you may have guessed, Kerncraft 400 is the opener, which could sell this album on its own (note that Zombie Nation is the artist rather than the track name - a common misconception). However, this appeared about a year ago on Tranceformer 2000, so it's not exactly "new".

Big commercial tunes are scattered throughout this album, along with several repeats from TN2 and 3 too. Electrique Boutique - 'Revelation', Rising Star - 'Touch Me', Amber - 'Sexual', Delerium 'Silence', and Twister - 'Mauna Kea' have all appeared on earlier volumes of this series. The first six tunes - in fact, the majority of the first CD - are tunes that have appeared or will be on loads of other dance albums. Very few exclusives here.

Out of the tunes that are worth listening to, I've got most of them on another compilation, or on vinyl. The second CD is better than the first for new, quality trance, but overall this is a huge marketing ploy by MOS, who no longer seem to care about the trance content in their flagship trance compilation series. Which is a shame, because I really liked the first three volumes.

It's an above average release, but only worth buying if you haven't got half of the tunes on other compilations. Definitely have a listen to the tunes you don't know before you buy it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Weakest of The Series, 4 Feb 2001
By A Customer
Just rushed out a little too soon, with a too many weaker tracks. Not a bad album, but not an outstanding one. Try Euphoria Vo1 or Trance Nation Vol 1 if you have none. Both are streets ahead.
