Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Sporting 16 fully licensed team and stadium endorsements, ESL brings together the talent from the very finest teams in Europe to create a 'European Super League Championship', from the comfort of your own home. Ronaldo, Zidane, Edgar Davids and Giggs are names to excite even the least fanatical football fan and they, along with countless other world class footballers are the foundation of this European Super League.

Entries from clubs such as AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Marseille, Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain will ensure that the gameplay experience as well as the fantasy league offers the toughest, most sought-after competition the world of football has ever been host to. Along with the fully licensed clubs and players, the stadiums where all the action takes place are modeled exactly to the real-life specifications down to the smallest detail. The commitment to precision accuracy is revealed further right down to the advertising hoardings, which are an exact replica of those in the real life stadiums.

No football game in the past has ever provided environmental realism that comes close to ESL.

To successfully accommodate the novice gamer and the hardcore football fanatic alike, ESL takes advantage of two control options that can be adopted, depending on an individual's skill level. Therefore the beginner who may have struggled with excruciatingly complex control mechanisms adopted by former games need fret no more. The control interface of ESL when played in novice mode is limited to simple button combinations, allowing for a newcomer to pull off instantly impressive moves and plays without an extensive gaming career behind them.

However, for the advanced gamer, the alternate mode, although more complex and demanding, will give them far improved control over the game as they swerve, tackle and impress others with the vast array of tricks and tactical moves ESL incorporates.

Half of the experience of a great game and what makes it ultimately memorable is the stadium within which it takes place. The developers of ESL recognise this and therefore much care and attention has been applied to optimise the gaming extravagance.

The feeling of size and space inside the individual stadia is simply breath taking. The experience does not stop there however. The crowd witnessing the hard-played match will sing authentic and real-life chants for your chosen team creating an atmosphere that could only be witnessed if you purchased a ticket to the game.

Hot tickets for the biggest and best matches are horrendously expensive nowadays though aren't they&&.so why not let ESL recreate the passion of competitive football for you?

1.0 out of 5 stars European Super Flop!, 13 Mar 2001
By martin calver (Harwich, Essex) - See all my reviews
Another footy game reaches the Dremacast! Another Footy game disappoints us! Come on, Did you really expect this one to even come close to ISS on the Playstaion!! As soon as the power was pressed and the intro appeared i knew it was going to be the same old story. The menu`s are lifeless just like the game and appearance in pre-match menu`s are shocking. The stadiums are inch perfect and are graphically superb - i was very impressed with this. But the player animation is slow and un-responsive. After One round of the league stage - i havent played the game since! Come on Konami - give us ISS Pro Evolution on the DC! If we had the stadiums of European Super League, added to the ISS game - We would be in heaven!!! Sorry but we still are waiting for a top footy game on the DC!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Is it really super?, 11 Mar 2001
After a slightly jerky intro, accomplished with some half decent trance music your presented with the hi-res title screens, ah...something's missing. That'll be the lack of a 60Hz mode, Then. not to worry as the range of gameplay modes makes u for that, Custom matches, Euro League, 4 player sessions, friendlys and a quick start option are what's on offer, despite all these game modes there is a total lack of gameplay options what so ever, no weather, day/night settings, speed or power shot meters to speak off, which is fairly saddening. 16 teams are available, featuring all real players, stadiums, and sponsors, and a good deal of effort has been put into the game making sure the player look like their real counterparts. The first thing you'll notice about ESL is how poor the graphics are, the crowds look like a blur of colours, the goal posts and nets look awfuly basic and the players are made up of few polygons, then the problems occur..... Simple things like passing the ball and switching players are troublesome, and the ball doesn't more as fluid as you would expect. The crowds are convincing however, offering a range of chants to create a sense of atmosphere and the goal celebrations are fairly funny, the first few times round, also, Laughably, when a free kick occurs, you'll notice something eye jerking bad, the players names aren't actually attached to the players back, instead they are hovering as it were on the players shoulders. Most odd indeed. ESL does have a few saving graces, the pace of the game is nicely even, and 4 player mode works well. But all in all ESL has too many little niggles and a total lack of options to make it a worthwhile purchase. Let's just hope EA's curse wares off soon. ... Score: 6/10
