5.0 out of 5 stars sublime electro jazzy soul pop ballads, 4 Mar 2003
By Mr. E. Neil "ericneil3" (Birmingham, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
There are so many flavours in this lovely album that you want to keep it in the fridge to preserve it. Hauntingly familiar but refreshingly different. Cinema girl, girls insane and love has flown are a soulful trio of ballads all laced with Ms Diamente's uncompromising view of love and loss. It's a beautiful merge of sentimentality and caustic cynicism, with a wonderful backdrop of spicy 60s pop and soul. Angel eye snaps you out of this trancey mood with some hi-octane rock, punctuated with startling bursts of jazz swing. Most of all, the Januaries know how to have fun while delivering songs as diverse as they are cunningly crafted. I'm astounded that it has no UK distribution -it would be an absolute winner. Buy without hesitation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why is This Album Not Out in Europe?!, 22 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This is a truly original band, the songs are catchy, yet still artistic. This is a definate summer album. God bless them for not writing the same old boring love songs everyone else is doing. I think it's a terrible shame this album can only be bought via the internet in europe. It's a beautiful album with many different landscapes, not the same sounding songs throughout the album, but with different lyrics, each song stands on it's own. It's fun, cheeky, and sad. At first the songs come off sweet and then the melancholy hits you later. I can't wait for the 2nd album, wonder if that will ever be released in europe?

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy melodies and 70 style jazz mask intense lyrics., 30 April 2001
By Christopher Morris (Durham, england) - See all my reviews
The music reminds you of the 70 tracks you may have listened to your dad play, and the brass music in the backgrund gives the tracks a jazzy feel. The whole is something completely different. In the style of Morcheeba, the group cannot be classified in any one style of music and listeners of any age and most styles of music will be captivated by the overall melody.
