2.0 out of 5 stars This Is NOT Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2, 4 Sep 2000
By J. Morgan (Dalkeith, Midlothian Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This film is not part 2 of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It is indeed part 4. Part 2 was rejected by the censors after they wanted 20 minutes of cuts. and Part 3 was rejected outright. What we have here is Part 4, toned down by some 10 minutes. When the film was made in 1994 it was called The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and by all accounts was not a bad movie. Since then it has gone through legal actions and different edits. What we are left with is nothing short of crap. Leatherface is now a demented transvestite, who is now more interested in lipstick than the chainsaw. Basically it is the first film without the style. Renee Zellweger and company are at a prom. They go into the woods where they come across the Sawyer family. The torture begins but there is no gore to talk about. Also the story is stupied. It turns out that the Sawyer family are working for the Government! . A lot of things are left unexplained by this edit. One can only hope that the Massacre film (AN ALL AMERICAN MASSACRE) will put the series back on track. I have based this review on the US edition of the film.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too funny!, 6 Nov 2003
By A Customer
This is a completely bizarre remake of the original movie. If you find demented 250lbs transvesites dancing round with chainsaws funny or just want to see Renee Zellweger beaten by a wannabe murderess with and long twig this is the movie for you! It's all very silly and a lot of fun. I liked it a lot more on subsequent viewings. Watch out for a Debbie Harry of Blondie singing on the soundtrack.

1.0 out of 5 stars TCM 4, style and form which is missable., 18 Jan 2005
It was christmas time and my brother never fails to let down again with TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE!!..........the next generation, but its the thought that counts! Starrying Matthew McConaughey as Vilmer(that bad-guy with the mechanical leg), and once again hes showing off his 1-dimensional acting talent. I can honestley say i have never seen a film so badly acted and directed, and the funniest thing is it would'nt even pass for unintentional stoner humour. The film is painfully, uninterestingly, bad. Don't let that put you off the other TCM films.

Perhaps the best cure for insomnia there is, provided you can sleep with a splitting headache and a bad case of "fist stuck in the wall". Don't buy this film or even borrow it, the only positive point was it left me with a need to really make the best of my time.

If you are looking at this film, you got the wrong version.
