Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Having effortlessly seduced both the domestic and American markets with their joyous cohesion of sparkling pop perfection, intricate dance steps and bubbly exuberance, Keavy, Edele, Lindsay and Sinead have widened their world-view with a second collection of tangible maturity. Where the majority of their chart-bound peers seem content to plough narrow formulaic furrows, Dublin's finest daughters casually embrace diversity and, as a consequence, have developed an assured and unique style which is simultaneously multicultural and cross-generic. The irresistible bounce of "Jesse Hold On" marries hillbilly banjo breaks to floor-filling beats, Ladysmith Black Mambazo guest on the worldly atmospherics of "I Shall Be There", while "Are You A Ghost" is a sumptuous slice of acoustic whimsy spiced to perfection with lashings of international pop gloss. With Awake and Breathe, B*witched prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that giggles, good looks and tender years aren't always necessarily synonymous with shallow disposability. --Ian Fortnam

5.0 out of 5 stars B*Witching, 3 May 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Awake and Breathe (Audio CD)
I remember the days when B*witched were just four girls from Ireland and dressed in denim. Now look at the fine young ladies they have become!

This album is probably my all-time favourite. Not only has it got the pop perspetive well and truly covered but, since "B*Witched - The Album" was released the girls have grown up somewhat and are more than capable of belting out a scorcher or two.

Not only does this album have the usual B*Witched sound to it (Edele Lynch's amazing voice), but it also has fantastic lyrics (mostly written by the girls themselves) and it also gives a couple of the others a chance to show off what they can do. Lindsay on "Mr Superman" and Keavy on both "Leaves" and "The Shy One".

The album kicks off with "If It Don't Fit", which is one hell of a song, it's rocky, it's poppy, but most of all it's B*Witched. The album then runs through the singles "Jesse Hold On", "I Shall Be There" and "Jump Down". But don't think that's where it ends, oh no.

If you like B*Witched and are considering buying this album, please do as it is worth your while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit from the girls!, 28 April 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Awake and Breathe (Audio CD)
You heard the first album? If not I recommend you get it as soon as you can. Their second album is out now! Another great album from the B*Witched girls. Although not as much of an instant hit as their debut album, "Awake And Breathe" is still an excellent piece of work. Released one year after "B*Witched" we hear that the girls seem to have matured. Their dancey stuff is still their, "If I Don't Fit" and "Jump Down" being just two, but "Are You A Ghost?" and "I Shall Be There" reveal that they are "growing up". Also, the other girls get a chance to do lead vocals on this album. Keavy on "The Shy One" and Lindsay on "My Superman". The girls had much more control over this album than the last and a very nice job they did too.

Not quite as catchy as the first album but if you liked "B*Witched" it's a definate album for your collection!

Look out for their next album.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Weird but Wonderful!, 20 Dec 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Awake and Breathe (Audio CD)
B*Witched have done it again, and realesed a top quality pop album. Pop though, is a bit of a strong word. Since then, the girls have got themselves tans and grown up. If you loved the old style, you might be slightly put off by some tracks like "Leaves", but give it a chance and you'll learn to love it. This album has Madonna "Ray of Light" areas, rocky beats (If it don't fit), and discotastic grooves (Mr. Superman). But don't be put off. There is still the odd ditty Irish wonder like "Jesse Hold On" and the superb "Jump Down!" Don't get the wrong idea. This album is still jocked-full of fun, but with a slightly more sophisticated touch. Give it a chance, and you'll like it even more than the last one. This album is a bit weird, but absoloutely brilliant!!!
