From the quiet opening to the enigmatic ending you are truly entranced by this collection of mindbending rythmns and arpeggios. Initial impressions were of a rather low recording level but when track 3 (Water Drums) is reached you find out why - the bass will just about blow you away and the title track (8) has even deeper bass! Don't be tempted to turn it up too much or you'll need new speakers. Some of the weirder sounds appear to have some sort of 3d enhancement and sound stunning on BIG speakers. Toucan appears to have pinched the backing from FSOL's Cascade but manages to carry it off quite nicely. The only problem with this cd is that, at 74 mins, it's too short and leaves you wanting more - the only solution is to start again.

I bought this album on the strength of one song i heard on an ambient internet radio station and the rest of the album was just as good or better. Some really chilled ambient tracks mixed in with some more upbeat trance tracks.

This is a great CD, thoroughly recommended.
