Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Brutish, yet cuddly in a "good-on-them" sort of way (step forward, please, gravel-throated Vlad The Impaler look-alike Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister), the moderation-eschewing and altogether noisy Motorhead are already one of the most heavily anthologised bands in British rock history. However, this 2-CD Silver Jubilee set (so that's why they've covered the Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen") is the only compilation to traverse their entire 25-year-long wayward career path. Not that much has changed along the way. Through the years, they've remained 100 per cent Heavy Metal--not for them the flimsy compromise of the MTV Unplugged set, the live concert with the Boston Symphony Orchestra or the acid-house remix. Motorhead have, save a brief unfortunate fling with Brian Robertson's flange-pedal, remained forever true to their ferociously brawny 1977 blueprint (road-drill drumming, bass rumbling, the lurid espousal of hard booze, card games, womanising and death-by-recklessness). Totally comprehensive in its coverage of old ground ("Bomber", "Ace Of Spades", "Overkill", etc), there's also fresh bait on offer for completists in the shape of four previously unreleased live tracks from the early 1980s. --Kevin Maidment END

5.0 out of 5 stars An aural feast for lovers of true Rock and Roll, 16 Mar 2002
By A Customer
Like the Mona Lisa, Lemmy is a timeless classic and his band Motorhead is the embodiment and vehicle for his unmistakeable slant on life. This CD gives all rock fans the oppurtunity to experience life in Lemmyland from the post psychedelic Hawkwind version of "Motorhead" through the pre-thrash thrash of "Overkill" on to the never say die cover of "God save the Queen". It is all there for anyone brave enough to listen! Check out the drum-laden intro to "One to sing the Blues" and ask yourself why Pop Idol Will went to No1? Let the gentle chords of "Ace of Spades" canter across your cranium and denounce pop for ever. This is music, real music and I like it. Elvis may be dead but Lemmy will live for ever, whether you like it or not! Buy this CD, play it loud and keep your neighbours at arms length!

5.0 out of 5 stars No Sleep Ever!, 21 Dec 2000
An absolutely excellent compilation of Motorhead's best studio material. The sound quality is excellent. If the bass rumble doesn't get you by the soul then your already dead.
