Dreamy, feel-good tune with a touch of class, 1 Oct 2000

This song won Eurovision 2000 for Denmark, and rightly so. From the rhythmic opening to the catchy, but almost spiritual chorus, this song is pure lush, and one you'll want to listen to over and over again. It is clear from the quality of the music that The Olsen Brothers are pros, and it shows. This is an atmospheric, magical sounding song that really hits you when you don't expect it to, and if you missed or don't ever watch Eurovision, theis will ensure you never miss it again. Brilliant.

Eurovision: Not just for the young, 8 April 2005
I've only seen the Eurovision Song Contest a few times. I always thought it was good, fun competition between neighboring countries. Yet many Europeans I've talked to claim they wouldn't be caught dead watching it. But I always manage to get out of them that, yes, they do watch it every year, for various reasons. I've noticed the contestants are usually young, and that's fine. I'm in my mid 50's, and when I saw the Olsen Brothers win in 2000, I called a victory for us old dudes. Comparatively speaking, that is. They came out on stage to this calypso-like rhythm and proceeded to blow the competition away. The audience reaction was a pretty good clue that here was a song that stood a very good chance of winning. The CD contains both the English and Danish versions of the song, but it seems apparent from the phrasing of the melody that it was written in English first. In any event, it's a great song and deserved to win.

On the wings of Eurovision pop, 8 Jul 2004
Fly On the Wings Of Love was the first of 3 shocking Eurovision victories in a row which actually did little good to ensure high chart placings for Eurovision winners. But, unlike Estonia and Latvia later on, this song did make the UK top 10 thanks to XTM & DJ Chucky, and if you're into dance music, you'll like the newer version much better.
The "B-side" of this single is Smuk Som Et Stjerneskud or the Danish version of the winner. Nothing special, this single, less than 6 minutes of music, but still a great tune!
