2.0 out of 5 stars Hmm... could this have been a rushed job?, 14 Jan 2002

This review is from: Kill the Musicians (Audio CD)
I'll start by saying that I am, in fact, a fan of punk rock. And punk rock albums tend to be less than polished. So when I first played "Kill the musicians" I wasn't expecting miracles. But, I was expecting the musicians to be able to play! The booklet confirmed my fears... Ben Weasel (is that his real name?!?) tells us the story of the day he learnt his second chord... and shares his thoughts on his finest virtuoso skills on the album (a track that you really have to hear to believe). Another failing is the awful recording qualitly on the first half dozen tracks, they're actually pretty painful to listen to. Sill, it's not all bad, Screeching Weasel are enthusiastic to say the least, and some of the songs are quite funny. And although there are far better punk bands out there, at least this lot are true the the punk ethos of being loud, anarchic and tuneless.
