5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any Spitfire or Hurricane enthusiast, 21 Nov 2000
This video was filmed on the weekend of 9th & 10th September 2000. In glorious weather and to a capacity crowd in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, the largest collection of Spitfires (20) & Hurricanes seen since World War II were on display.

In chronological order the video takes us through the aircraft in service throughout the war such as Spitfires, Hurricanes, Mustangs, Thunderbolts and the B-17 Flying Fortress, moving onto the jets starting with the Meteor, Hunter, Hawk and finally the Harrier. All are beautifully filmed and in some cases there is footage from cockpit cameras.

As if this weren't enough the display is drawn to a close by the re-formation of the 'Duxford Big Wing', originally conceived by Douglas Bader. This sees 23 aircraft in the air at once - an impressive sight and sound.

Throughout, the video is professionally filmed and produced. Thankfully, due to the abscence of a backing soundtrack, we are fully able to appreciate the full force of the massed Merlin engines which can be heard in all their glory.

In addition to the flight sequences are interviews with Battle of Britain veterans and the odd insight into the restoration and maintenance of the aircraft on show.

Having been to the display, I can vouch for the fact that nothing is missed here and the same excitement felt on the day is also evident on the video.
