4.0 out of 5 stars accomplished piece of work, from a very talented musician, 28 Mar 2002
By A Customer
If you like the Hammond organ sound that made "A Whiter Shade of Pale" famous, then you will like much of this album. If you loved "Repent Walpurgis", from Procol Harum's first album, then you will love "Separation" from this one. Indeed, this CD is worth buying on the strength of "Separation" alone; everything else is then a bonus, and with 19 tracks in total, it is good value. Matthew shows his considerable talent in a restrained and tasteful way, arranging, producing, writing and singing, and playing most of the instruments. He has a good way with words, and his vocal delivery is always very clear, somewhat reminiscent, at times, of Colin Blunstone. There is more than a hint of Beatle on some tracks, and shades of John Lennon in particular. This is a very accomplished piece of work, from a very talented musician.

5.0 out of 5 stars I have waited YEARS for these recordings on CD!, 14 Nov 2000
By A Customer
Former Procul Harem organist Matthew Fisher's first solo LP "Journey's End" has been one of my top 10 favorite recordings for years. Each song is a gem, full of passionate words and inspired music. In this special release you also get his second, less polished but-still-better-than-most-of-the-junk-you-hear-these-days LP. Beautiful arrangements on the slow stuff. A couple of great instumentals, and powerful emotion-filled vocals. You can really feel his pain as he sings of the hurt caused by his parting of the ways with Procul Harum. All Procul fans must own this!
