3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better!, 25 Sep 2000
By smgbar@btinternet.com (London, England) - See all my reviews
If you've seen Revenant (aka Mordern Vampyres), then you'll know it's a very black comedy, starring Casper Van Dien (Sleepy Hollow, Starship Troopers), Natasha Gregson Wagner (Urban Legend, Another Day In Paradise), Kim Cattrell (Sex and the City, Big Trouble in Little China) and Rod Steiger. You'll also know that it was completely gross, but quite funny. It stars Dien as a vampire who returns to his hometown to some not too friendly vampires. He finds out from friends (Cattrell and Craig Fergusson) that their master (Gabriel Cassens) is looking for a new vampire called the hollywood slasher (Wagner), because she is being stupid and letting everybody find out about their race. Dien helps her as he was the one that turned her. Hot on all their trails is a vampire slayer (Steiger). The acting is not top notch (Dien surprisingly puts in one of the best and Cattrell is always good, but what happened to Wagner), and the dialogue is terrible, but it can be enjoyed. As for the actual dvd, the picture and sound qualify, but the only special feature you'll find is a picture gallery. A fairly average dvd.

4.0 out of 5 stars Highly entertaining., 22 Nov 2005
While this film will never be nominated for an oscar, it must be said that it is highly entertaining. In fact, of all the slightly strange vampire films that I've bought, just to see what they're like, this has got to be one of the best.
Most of the typical traditions of vampires are thrown out the window, but if you can disregard this, then you will get a good laugh from this film. Kim Catrall deserves special mention for her role, as she plays the part brilliantly. I actually found Rod Steiger quite annoying in this, but thats made up for by the really funny homies he has with him.
If you can pick this up cheap, its well worth a few quid.
