Queen Amidala's ship has been badly damaged and R2-D2 is busy on the outside trying to fix the shield operator.
Your job is to repeat the pattern of lights and sounds as you see and hear them as a way to generate power for the shields.
This is one of the many games you can play in Jar Jar's Journey. Each one is clearly narrated and easy to follow. There are plenty of others including Jar Jar's colouring centre where you can quickly turn your cursor into a paint brush.
But if you don't fancy playing any Star Wars-themed games, you can sit back and listen to a story. In his inimitable way Jar Jar tells you how he was saved by a brave Jedi when the battle droids tried to take over his planet. Click on underlined words and hear amusing songs or find hidden characters who fly through the air.
As you would expect from George Lucas, this is a high-quality software title. The strong characters, special effects and richly illustrated designs make this a highly enjoyable game for young Star Wars fans from four years upwards.
It's entertaining for adults as well. At the start, Jar Jar sticks out his long tongue and eats an exclamation mark off the computer screen. "It tastes like chicken," he declares with a grin. The lovable creature from the planet Naboo is likely to become the undisputed star of children's CD-ROMs.--Justin Hunt

In this limited, 14-page animated storybook, children will find the tale of Star Wars' Jar Jar plus six multilevel activities. The story is read aloud and phrases are highlighted along the way, making it easier for kids to follow along. Games include mazes, concentration and pattern repetition- pretty much standard fare. Other weaknesses include unimpressive graphics and non-interruptible narration and animation sequences. Our testers enjoyed the program one time through but had no desire to play it again. We've come to expect more from a powerhouse like Lucas Learning, whose other products include the impressive Yoda's Challenge. Buy that one instead.
