Synopsis

The classic children's novel is brought to the screen in this TV series. On holiday with her aunt Mary (Valerie Lush), who lives in the gatehouse of a spooky old mansion, 13-year-old Minty (Siri Neal) finds that she has special powers when she touches a sundial in the garden. This discovery begins a chain of events that leads her on a journey back in time.

4.0 out of 5 stars A rare treat..., 25 Jun 2003
With the state of childrens drama's being as it is, 'Moondial' provides us with a compelling story, great direction and performance and the guts to be really chilling whilst being suitable for children.
I don't want to delve into the story, but Helen Cresswells excellent book survives the transition to the little screen and I think the BBC would be wise to repeat this series. With all the fuss over Harry Potter I think kids who missed this the first time around would really enjoy a quality drama as a breath of fresh air from the plentitude of poorly made and performed programs they're offered today.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is fantastic!, 21 Nov 2004
This film is scarier than last house on the left! I saw this when i was eight! i didnt understand it then but now i realise just what an origonal gem this is! Really superb! If any pro film directors are looking do make an effort to see this scary treat! And at the same time! a fantastic, magical even beautiful tour in modern day cinamatography mixed with classic victorian horror!
A must see! Enchanting!

5.0 out of 5 stars An old time classic!!, 2 May 2003
This film is a film where time just stops while your watching it, everything around doesn't matter because its so impowering to watch. The main character Minty is great where she tries to work out the mystery that is going on, it scary and fun at the same time, the children with masks makes it interesting and Sarah, the girl with the birthmark, really keeps you captivated and you want to know what has happened. A timeless classic that will always be in my heart, that you can't watch only once!
