When it comes to home decoration and design it can be difficult to know where to start. Suppose the colour scheme you choose turns out to be awful. Can you really improve the look of your living room by getting rid of an irritating fireplace? Will the sofa you want look OK with the rest of your furniture? Computer software can help, and Visual Home Professional, introduced by TV designer Anna Ryder Richardson, is a suite of four tools to assist. The four tools do not integrate with each other. Instead they provide help with different aspects of the total home makeover. Visual Home is the interior design tool. You can use it to draw your own rooms from scratch, or start with one of the pre-designed rooms on board. Add and remove furniture objects, change colour schemes and so on till you find out what suits you best. Using the second application, Photo Home Designer, you can import photos taken in your own home to designs, so you really can see how your furniture, colour scheme, wallpaper patterns and so on will fit with changes you want to make. The third tool in the suite is devoted to DIY. It provides step-by-step instructions for over 100 DIY projects including plumbing and electrical ones. Finally, 3D Deck is the fourth module. This is specifically for those who want to bring their home into the garden with a little decking.
