3.0 out of 5 stars Only one golf course, 19 Aug 2002
This game uses the sliding mouse technique for hitting the ball rather than the 3 or 2 press swing guage method. Basically you keep the mouse button pressed only releasing it just before the strike and slide the mouse sideways and back again keeping it square just as if it were a real club head. Rotating the mouse slightly open or closed will result in a sliced or hooked shot. If you want to hit the ball lower and further you have to release the mouse button as late as possible but before the strike. To hit shorter you can either do only a half swing, release the mouse button earlier, slide the mouse slower or do all three of these things. In one way I find this technique quite realistic because the player is actually controlling the speed of the swing. On the other hand though it's far too easy to hit a straight shot. It is almost impossible to hit a duff shot from the tee or fairway unless you slide the mouse too fast. The only challenging shots are the short shots close to or on the green because it's tricky to judge the distance.
The best aspect of this game are the almost photo realistic excellent graphics, you can even see different textures in the grass. The graphics are even superior to the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2000 game but the forementioned Tiger Woods game is superior in almost all other respects. The Golf Pro 2 game features only one golf course compared with 8 in Tiger's sim and there are also less game play options.
