Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Based on the bestselling role-playing game of the same name, the game starts in the 12th Century. You play Christof, a French crusader, already fallen from grace for loving a nun. He encounters and kills one vampire, and is then enslaved by a rival clan for their own ends, but through the centuries and the course of the game, he seeks only the woman he loved and his own humanity, more than the glory of waging war for his clan. The gamplay is based around the use of spells, which are grouped into Disciplines. Each has five levels varying in cost--with blood doubling as currency and life energy. Biting humans causes greater risk of interception, but there are also vials or even your fellow comrades to feed in case of emergencies. However, this can upset team health and combative strength. Resource management is one of the more compelling aspects of the game, supplementing the spell-casting. The game is rapidly addictive, spurring the gamer on to see how the tale unfolds. Vampire's manual is well written, and the ever-present cut scenes enhance rather than intrude. Vampire autosaves at new level openings, into a single slot. This forces the player to play with tactical care and stealth. It does, however, take a mammoth 1.25 gigabytes of disk space for full installation, and the switch to the presend-day section after spending so long in medieval times can be jarring. There is blood--but it's hard to imagine a Vampire game without it. Just make sure you have plenty of time on your hands when you sit down to play. --Kenneth Henry

Product Description

Before your fall, you led a crusade against evil. Now you've become one of the undead creatures you once battled--a vampire. Inhabiting the World of Darkness, you must face a series of brutal confrontations with your nemesis, Vukodiak, a powerful vampire lord. Your unholy showdown begins in medieval Europe and rages on into the modern day, as you track a soulless enemy in an eternal struggle to destroy him--for this is the only hope of vengeance for your tortured immortality.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great buy..............., 4 Feb 2001
I have not finished the game, but so far it is absolutely brilliant. You start off as a single player (Christoph) in Prague in the 1100s and as a mortal. After a realtively easy mission as a mortal you are turned into a vampire and the real fun begins! The game is a roleplaying one which is easy to get the basics of but hard to master. It reads like a good book and the vampire lore is well researched. The graphics are good and the different responses mean that you can play it again on completion without getting bored and once you've done that there is the whole realm of multiplayer. For more information, I would try out the whitewolf website. Adventurous, amazing and totally addictive........

5.0 out of 5 stars Vampire the Masquerade, 8 Sep 2000
This game is a classic of games. For old Tombraider fans this game is a must. It has strategy and a good story line with the added bonus of the game not ending when most games would be over and done leaving you saying "was that it?". It keeps you up at night forgetting what the time is. The graphics are a little square a times but don't let that put you off. I would recommend this to any of my anorak friends with pleasure as it is a game players must.

4.0 out of 5 stars Try it, you might like it, 30 Jul 2001
By A Customer
A very good game with a great story and fantastic graphics. Here comes the but, But the game play does tend to lack varity and by the end of the game you don't really feel like you have achieved much unlike games such as Deus Ex or even Zelda on the N64. Like Stanly said, you only really use Cristof in the game and don't both with the others much, only using them to carry items you dont have room for.

But still it's a very good game which you will no doubt play through to the end if only to see how the story ends. Great instruction booklet too.
