4.0 out of 5 stars These boys are too modest, 2 Aug 2002
By A Customer
This is one of the great value double back catalogue CDs that BGO Records have put together. Chronologically the earlier of the two original LPs (which is how I first encountered them!) is Itchy Feet. Amazon reviewers please note that I'm NOT criticising the Band or rubbishing their opinions when I say that they are too modest about Itchy Feet (lead guitarist Tom McGuiness is in print expressing only qualified satisfaction with the production), because I have always thought it was a good album. If I didn't I wouldn't have replaced it on CD. The title track is eponymous Paul Jones at his bluesy best, and Dave Kelly's 'Rock'n'Roll Radio' is twelve bars and three chords of great fun. 'Who's Right and Who Is Wrong' should be on all those Rock Anthems of the 20th Century compilations. All of that said, Brand Loyalty is the better album here. It has rather more soul on the Kelly numbers in particular, among them the wonderful 'Grits Aint Grocery', as well as what sounds like the Band's intended live replacement for the earlier 'Flatfoot Sam', 'Sure Feels Good'. Best of all 'Brand Loyalty' contains loads of sassy brass arrangements which perhaps led more than 15 years later to the 'Brassed Up' big band album. Like I said these boys are too modest, and this is a great value buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars The hardest working band in Britain?, 30 Sep 2009
By A. J. Moore "Judi Moore" (Britain) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I think that's what they claim.

How can you go wrong with this CD re-issue of two of their best albums? My only complaint is that the best stuff turns up on every album - but this is by no means the only band to do that. And a good blues stands hearing many times. I put it on in the car, open all the windows and the sun roof and roar along to the guitars and blues harp, trying to remember not to shut my eyes for the high notes. That's motoring!
