This 1997 action flick is considered to be the director, Ringo Lam's finest movie masterpiece revolving around two superb leads, Lau Ching Wan as Inspector Pao, who must outwit the inscrutable criminal Mak, played by Francis Ng.

What makes this movie a must?
1) Story
The way the whole picture being presented is dramatic but realistic. It has twists and turns that compels you to second guess the outcomes.
2) Characters
The main strengths for me were how the lead actors can captivate the audience throughout the film. It is hard to imagine anyone else displaying the emotional, psychological psych that immerses you deeper into their world.
3) Genre
This film is more of a tense thriller than an action movie "New police story". I think this picture is grade A genre of its kind that has the action of "Heat" and the suspense of "Narrow Margin".

What makes this movie bust?
1) Vhs quality
Don't get me wrong, the film is watchable. But pictures could be better on dvd format.
2) Not enough bonus features
The dvd could have included some content of Lau Ching Wan and Francis Ng.
