3.0 out of 5 stars probably best bet for footy on Dreamcast, 22 Oct 2002
By A Customer
I bought this after being kept resonably entertained by Uefa Striker. I liked the player edit option in US, something that should be in all football games. I grew tired of the gameplay though as it seemed a bit ropey and became annoying. So i had a look at SWS Euro Edition. I must say it's not a ground breaking football game, it has its share of problems but has some redeeming features also that make it quite playable.
It is better than Uefa, it has better gameplay and certainly better commentary. Indeed the commentary i thought was pretty good. Provided by Peter Brackley, it flows quite well and is rarely out of touch with events on screen.
One of the main drawback is the long loading times. You literally have to wait minutes at a time between menu screens and pre/after match screens. You can go make a cup of tea and come back to find it still whirring away.
Also there are other ommisions from the game which i feel are vital to a full football gaming experience. One is the lack of real player names, and even when you score the goalscorer is not shown under the scoreline. Also when playing a league or cup there is no easy way to track the amount of goals each player has scored for you in the season or competition. Its strange the way developers omit some essential elements once they improve others. Since buying SWS Euro i have also bought Uefa Dream Soccer. I must say there is abarely much difference from Euro edition. The player animation is slightly different and the delay between pressing pass and the player doing so is slightly longer with Uefa Dream. However, Uefa Dream does record the scorers under the score and has more up-to date teams. Uefa Dream though has more bugs than SWSEuro and the commentary is much more inferior. I find myself playing Uefa Dream and thinking, if only i could combine all the best elements from Uefa Striker, SWS and uefa Dream soccer, then maybe it'd be a top notch footy game. However, it appears no one is willing to do this simple job for the Dreamcast. I'd say if you only own a dreamcast and no other console and you are a football fan, then you will get some enjoyment out of either SWS Euro edition or Uefa Dream soccer. If you have a pc or playstation 2 etc then i'd save your money as these two arent quite premiership material.

1.0 out of 5 stars Where is dreamcasts iss ??, 22 Mar 2001
By Mr. A. R. L. Barber "BNB" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this game with high hopes after owning the saturn version.....how wrong was i ! it is slow, jerky and the longest loading times ever !! The shooting is horid the shots go in 90% of the time all with added curl which you dont put on. the passing is ok i spose...the tackling looks untidy and fit for a sunday league match...this has got to be joint bottom of the football table with uefa striker/dreamsoccer. I hear that the developers of iss are making swws2001 so heres for hoping hopefully they will make a iss equal or even close to it......i must say if u want a football game buy a playstation and international superstar soccer evolution 2 ( iss2) you will feel alot better than wasting your dough on this !

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow but satisfing, 17 Aug 2000

Swws is a not your average football game it isn't a furiously fast pace game, but it makes up for that with a superb passing engine. A must for fanatics who like tatical and skillful play.
